The initial sight of Uluru will never fade from your memory for it is indeed an intriguing and inspiring vision. Not only a treasured icon to the local Aboriginal people (the Anangu) it is also one of the great wonders of the world. Upon arrival you will be transferred to the Ayers Rock Resort and your choice of accommodation. This evening experience the award-winning Sounds of Silence – dinner in the desert. Sip champagne whilst watching the sun set over the Olgas and Ayers Rock to the sounds of a didgeridoo. As an astronomer takes you on a tour of the night sky, tuck into a 3 course gourmet BBQ.

Travel to the sunrise viewing area at the eastern end of Uluru and enjoy a warming hot drink as the rising sun slowly changes the colour of Uluru. Drive around the base of the monolith and join a gentle walking tour of the Mutitjulu Waterhole where you can view Aboriginal rock art. The walk takes you through areas inhabited by Anangu thousands of years ago. There is time to visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and learn more about the culture and Tjukurpa (Aboriginal law) of the Anangu people. Return to Ayers Rock Resort mid-morning. The remainder of the day is free to enjoy the resort activities or perhaps take in another tour (see page 55 for ideas).

Day 1: Welcome to Alice Springs located in the heart of the Red Centre. On arrival you will be transferred to your chosen hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Bond Springs Outback Retreat to experience a taste of life on a working cattle station in Australia's vast interior, yet be only 25 kilometres from Alice Springs. The 1500 square km station homestead is nestled in the rugged, yet picturesque, MacDonnell Ranges and offers a true outback escape. Stay in a beautifully decorated self-contained cottage. A gourmet breakfast for two is included (own provisions required for other meals).

Day 3: (B) Return to Alice Springs later this morning in time to join an afternoon ‘Town like Alice’ tour which includes visits to the Telegraph Station, ANZAC Hill and town sights.

Day 4: Depart today for your onward travel arrangements.
